What I did:

  • ​Assist lead teachers in preparing and organising activity materials 

  • Assist lead teachers in activity facilitation

  • Assist lead teachers in performing routine care, toileting, and dressing 

  • Assist lead teachers in termly decoration of classroom theme boards

  • Collaborate with occupational therapist to make alphabetical and numerical home-based learning materials and take-home kits to support the learning of the children with respect to their goals 

  • Collect present level of performance and progress monitoring using a variety of documentation methods 

  • Make physical teaching aids and eresource to support the learning of the children with respect to their goals 

  • Plan and conduct activities according to classroom theme and children's goals

  • Propose field trip plan to KidsSTOP Science Centre with family-friendly activities  

What I learnt:

  • How to facilitate routines, activitivities, and order of toileting/dressing with the use of the schedule board 

  • How to use visual aids to inform children on classroom rules to abide to 

  • How to use short sentences when passing instructions or correcting behaviour 

  • How to pre-empt children of transitions 

  • How to care for children with exceptionalities of different behaviours, needs, and abilities through continuous observation 

  • How to craft appropriate activity plans and resources for children 

  • How to assist in dressing with the children 

  • How to encourage children to develop positive habits

  • How to use fidget toys to help children regulate

  • Assist in setting up for indoor and outdoor sports activity classes in building motor skills

What I learnt:

  • How to scaffold teaching of sport skills with accordance to the developmental milestones of children in different age groups 

  • How to mirror movement when teaching sport skills 

  • How important it is to have an alternative activity plan (wet weather/spoilt equipment)
